Hello Thedosians. Welcome to Thedas & Beyond.
This is a new play by post role-playing game based on Thedas (i.e. The Dragon Age Setting) set almost immediately after the events of Dragon Age: Inquisition's "Trespasser" DLC. Detailed information about where our canon characters have left off has been provided for you on our forum. The best place to start, would be to check out our World State. After that, you'll want to dive into our game Guides as that's where you'll find information on rules, game mechanics, character creation, and application process.
Who Can You Play?!
We have an exhaustive list of canon characters for you to choose from, but you're also allowed to create your own original characters as well! The application process differs a bit if you're adopting a canon character versus creating an altogether new one, but our Guides section will explain the nitty gritty of that for you.
As of right now, we're still recruiting players therefore all of the canon characters are available to adopt.
There are exceptions:
Canon characters who essentially play a major leadership role in the game (e.g. Cassandra, as she's our Divine Victoria) can only be played by moderators. These are generally established players promoted to moderatorship and/or players that administration has personally recruited to the game.
If you want to become a moderator, adhere to the rules and contribute (i.e. be active) regularly on the boards. Administration would love the help in building our narrative, and will be keeping an eye out for talented writers and experienced game masters.
Work In Progress
While there are lots of canon areas to explore, we have included some less explored areas of Thedas as well. We intend to allow players a modicum of creative license for those lesser known regions, such as those that are "across the sea" or, for another example, those one-off or often forgotten mentions of lesser known bannorns, villages, etc. that seem to spring up in the narrative from time to time. Long-term players may even be granted moderator privileges in order to build up those areas, specifically, as well. In other words, yes, this game is a work in progress. The intention of adding the "Beyond" of "Thedas & Beyond" was so that we could collaboratively, as roleplaying writers, flesh out the rest of Thedas together.
Our codexes are a perfect example of this. We're still writing them. So far, Ferelden is the only one relatively completed and we will continue to update them as the game progresses. Unlike the numerous codexes that exist in the game, we're trying to compile them per region or faction. These are navigable via their table of contents', as well (in part, that's what takes so long to build them - it's a lot of coding). If you're interested in writing a comprehensive codex for our game, please, have at it (use Ferelden's codex as your template for basic structure - we'll add the coding, don't worry).
Recently, Bioware released a teaser trailer about an upcoming continuation of the DA narrative involving Solas / The Dread Wolf and very likely, Tevinter. Partly with that in mind, we're not introducing Solas into the game at this time i.e. he's still considered "at large"; somewhere in Thedas, doing Maker knows what.
Given that Tevinter will likely be explored in the next expansion, as well, we haven't been as thorough about building up the Tevinter areas of our game. Players are welcome to still roleplay in those areas, we're simply providing minimal details about Tevinter in case Bioware decides to add more to the canon lore for that region.
Questions, Comments, or Suggestions?
Please don't contact this administrative account by private message unless it's a serious matter.
If you have a game related question, we ask that you post it to either the General Discussion area or the Questions About Canon Lore board - you may be doing a future player a favour by asking a question they wanted the same answer to!
We do have a Discord channel but we aren't going public with the link just yet. If you have a Discord account, make sure to let us know - we'll send you an invite.
We also have an official Reddit, which is open to the public.
Comments and suggestions can be posted on the general board as well.
Signing off for now - if you're new to the game, please be sure to say hello in our introductions area!
