Canons of Thedas

Without further ado, here is the exhaustive list of canons. Characters that have died will not be listed here. Believe it or not, this isn't even the full list. There are a variety of minor characters, even nobles, in the Dragon Age game (e.g. those mentioned in War Table missions, etc.), if you're wondering about someone not on this list-get in touch with Administration.

Major canons that have been adopted will remain on this list.

Minor Canons can be expanded upon by players as semi-original characters since they either had smaller roles in the Dragon Age installements or were hardly mentioned, or even seen, at all. For many of these pseudo-canons, this allowance includes crafting their physical appearances in addition to expanding upon their respective histories and their place in the world of Thedas in general. We've included this lengthy list for those who don't necessarily want to play a Major Canon but likewise don't quite want to build an Original Character entirely from scratch either. Many of these Minor Canons also have extended family beyond what we've compiled here, as well—so that's also an option for crafting OCs in turn.

Minor canons that have been adopted will be removed from the list.

If it says "Mods Only" beside the name of a Major or Minor Canon, that means the character can only be adopted by a moderator or at the discretion of Administration. Reason being, these are usually leadership roles and could impact other players. If it says "Taken" beside the name of a Major Canon, that character has already been adopted by someone.

3. Special Consideration

Dragon Age: Origins - Other Origins

Since they weren't the Warden, all other "Origins" from the Dragon Age: Origins installation are potentially alive (i.e. available for adoption), including: a Fereldan Circle Mage (named Daylen Amell, if male, or Solona Amell, if female - the Hawkes' second-cousin, either way); an Elven Mage (named Alim Surana, if male, or Neria Surana, if female); a City Elf (named Darrian Tabris, if male, or Kallian Tabris, if female), a Dalish Elf (named Theron Mahariel, if male, or Lyna Mahariel, if female); a Dwarven Noble (named Duran Aeducan, if male, or Sereda Aeducan, if female); or a Dwarven Commoner (named Faren Brosca, if male, or Natia Brosca, if female).

Dragon Age: Inquisition - Other Origins

Likewise, since they weren't the Inquisitor, all other "Origins" from the Dragon Age: Inquisition installation are potentially alive (i.e. available for adoption), including: a Dalish Elf who can either be a hunter (i.e. rogue or warrior) or a mage (named Mahanon Lavellan, if male, or Ellana Lavellan, if female); a Surface Dwarf (named Edric Cadash, if male, or Malika Cadash, if female); or a Vashoth (i.e. never introduced to the Qun) Qunari (named Kaaras Adaar, if male, or Herah Adaar, if female)—you'd have to explain how they survived the Conclave, however.

The Bastards of Highever

We've also decided to muddy the stalwart memory of our dear, late Aedan Cousland. Turns out, he was a bit of a cad and had a thing for barmaids in particular. Apparently, he'd been seducing tavern wenches even well before he became a Grey Warden but it was only after he became posthumously famous that women have come out of the woodwork claiming they've had one of his, many, illegitimate children. So that means, if you really want to, you can roleplay as a Cousland bastard. We're calling them the Bastards of Highever, even if they weren't born there, simply because these women likely went to Teryn Fergus Cousland, either seeking child support or perhaps a better life for the child in question.
